Body Glove Honored with Bronze Plaque at Mira Costa High School

Redondo Beach, CA (August 26, 2010) – Body Glove is pleased to announce they will be the recipients of a beautiful bronze plaque from Mira Costa High School on Saturday August 28, 2010.

The plaque is to show the school’s appreciation for Body Glove’s support of their water programs since the early 1990’s. The South Bay business helped kick off the building of Mira Costa’s state of the art pool in 1996 and sponsor the pool scoreboard. The Meistrell family’s long history in the water is not limited to the ocean. Many of the Meistrell children attended Mira Costa High School and participated in swimming and water polo.

“We are beyond honored to receive this plaque from the school,” said Billy Meistrell “My kids attended Mira Costa and participated in the aquatics program. They have given so much to my family it felt great to support their school.”

The school is hosting an All Aquatics Kick Off breakfast on Saturday morning for boys and girls water polo and swimming. The students will give a demonstration and a sneak peak into what water sport spectators have to look forward to in the coming year. At this very special breakfast, the only time all the kids come together before school starts, the plaque will be unveiled and presented to the Body Glove and Meistrell family.

Anthony Walsh Scores at Teahupoo

Body Glove's Anthony Walsh is one of the best barrel riders in the world and he is amongst the elite crew of chargers invited to the Air Tahiti Nui Von Zipper Trials for the Billabong Pro Tahiti 2010 at Teahupoo. The day before the Trials were set to begin the crew had a nice swell and some amazing barrels and wipeouts went down. Love this photo especially in comparison to our previous post of James surfing Disneyworld. Good luck to Anthony in the Trials.

Check the video highlight at www.billabongpro.com/tahiti10 and stay tuned for the Trials and the main event on August 21st.

James Harold Surfs Disneyworld

A surf trip to Orlando, Florida wouldn't really strike much of an interest in most surfers' imaginations; but yet again, Disneyworld's Typhoon Lagoon water park has created a surfers paradise. James Harold was the only one of thousands, that flock to Orlando International Airport packing his surfboards around level to level. The interest the tourists take, at the site of James and his boards is hilarious- especially the kids' reactions. When they ask what he's doing with all those surfboards, he answers "I'm on my way to surf a sick wave in Disneyworld." Everyone around lights right up. Typhoon Lagoon's water park can host up to 25 private customers for a surf party. The waves produced are between 4-6 feet and can be set in a right, left, or center peak style. Most sessions are 100 waves per session. In James's case- 2 days, 150 waves per day, 2 surfers. Now that's a lot of guaranteed waves!

Here are some great shots of James laying it down for Mickey!

Body Glove Founder Bob Meistrell is 82 Years Young!

It is not often you hear of an 80 year old man trying to one up his birthday
every year. When dealing with Bob Meistrell he wants to do something bigger
and better each year, doing what he loves to do. Two years ago on his 80th
birthday he dove 150 feet with vintage equipment from the 1950s. On his 81st
birthday he dove 162 feet, 81 feet for himself and 81 feet for his late twin

This year Bob Meistrell brought in his 82nd birthday in usual style. On
Wednesday, July 28th he dove in a two-man submarine to a depth of 82 metres/
269 feet ( a meter for every year) off of Catalina Island.

Two days later, On July 30th, his brother Bills birthday, the Meistrell
family celebrated by diving with all three generations: First generation:
Bob, Second Generation: Robbie, Randy Ronnie, Billy, Julie and third
generation: Tracey, Jamie, Matt, Nick, Makayla, Kenna, Robert, Rhoni, Randi,
Jenna, Daley, Jake and Jared. There were a total of 19 Meistrell¹s diving
off Palos Verdes all of whom still Dive and Surf and were stoked to be
