Body Glove Team at Backdoor Shootout
The Backdoor Shootout, put on by Da Hui, is not your average contest. 8 teams with 4 surfers compete for the bragging rights of Pipeline and Backdoor. Rather than an elimination format, every one of the Pipe standouts partaking in the competition get to surf four 30-minute heats, and are ranked based on their top five scoring waves of the event.Jamie O'Brien, Alex Gray, Anthony Walsh, and Cheyne Magnusson make up Team Body Glove for 2012, and were met with beautiful weather and some amazing waves. Team Body Glove was in the lead after Day 1 and Jamie O'Brien was in the lead after Day 2. Greg Browning said that it is pretty much as good as it gets and that Day 1 was one of the best days of the year. Stay tuned... we are expecting some waves on Wed and Thurs.

Amaury Lavernhe Wins 2010 Turbo Bodyboards Pipeline Pro Presented by Body Glove

Conditions were epic, with perfect 8 to 12 feet Pipe and light offshore winds all day, keeping the thousands that lined the shore thoroughly entertained for the 2010 Turbo Bodyboards Pipeline Pro Presented by Body Glove .
Amaury Lavernhe of the Reunion Island was the one who came up trumps, blitzing through his final heats.

Lavernhe threw down the gauntlet to his combatants in the final with an outstanding combined wave total of 17.50, which included a perfect 10 for a huge pipe barrel to backflip. He then backed his perfect score up with a 7.5 for another huge barrel to roll.
Lavernhe took out Diego Cabrera of the Canary Island with 14.65, Jared Houston of South Africa with 14.20 and Damian King from Australia with 10.75.
"I am so stoked, I can't believe it" Said Lavernhe. "I have been here for 3 weeks and I have been training for this day. I just took this heat by heat and I didn't want to think too much about the final".

Diego Cabrera, who has come off the back of a win at the last IBA World Tour event at Confital in December has continued his stellar competitive run.
"This is my dream, I am very very happy as this is the first time that I have ever been in a pipe final and the second time in a Grand Slam final" said Cabrera.

Though Jared Houston missed out on second only by .45 points, he was thrilled with his performance in the competition after spending over 3 months on the North Shore in preparation.
"I am so stoked, this is everything that I have been working towards this year so I am so happy that it has paid off" said Houston
Terry McKenna, the IBA International General Manager, who was also one of the key drivers behind this event is thrilled with how the comp rolled out in 2010.
"There was not a better way to begin the 2010 IBA World Tour season" Said Terry. "Winning this event is only second to winning the world title, I am thrilled that Amaury has won this event as he is the deserved winner".
The 2010 IBA World Tour now movesto New South Wales in Australia for the Soldier Beach Pro International from April 12 to 18.

Body Glove Fantasy Surfer Sky Box Pipeline and Overall Winners Announced

Body Glove is stoked to announce the winner of the Pipeline Event and the Overall Sky Title for the Body Glove Fantasy Surfer Skybox. James Helm and his team "Carolina Beach" from Carolina, NC scored a new Vapor 3/2 Fullsuit for winning the Pipeline event and Michael Fishman's Team MEF from New York City took home the overall Body Glove Skybox title and scored himself a new Vapor Wetsuit and a package of other Body Glove swag.
We caught up with James after his big win and he said, "I am really excited about the wetsuit and pretty shocked that I won. I couldn't believe I got lucky and actually picked the top 5 guys at Pipe. It is a little cold this time of year for a 3/2 here in North Carolina, but it will be sweet in the spring. I have heard from the guys here at our local shop, Island Kite and Surf that the Vapor is a great suit and really looking forward to trying it out. Thanks again and definitely going to play again next season.
We also caught up with overall winner Michael he said, "I am really excited to win. There was tough competition in the Body Glove Skybox. I look forward to the prize package and can't wait to defend the title next year.
Join the Body Glove Fantasy Surfer Skybox in 2010 and see if you can take out James and Michael at the next event on the Gold Coast in Australia. Body Glove will be offering more great prizes and special offers in 2010.
